Doctors are not able to perform abortions in Mississippi unless the pregnant person’s life is at risk or in cases of rape. Contact our helpline if you have any questions about the law and your rights.
Mississippi’s abortion ban is now in effect. The ban means that doctors in the state are only allowed to perform an abortion if the life of the pregnant person is at risk. A doctor can also provide an abortion to someone who is a survivor of rape. For this exception, the pregnant person must report the rape to the police and cannot be more than 6 weeks pregnant.
If you need an abortion, you may need to travel to a state where abortion is not currently banned. You can return to the home page to check the law in other states near you. You can also call our helpline to learn more about accessing abortion, the law, and your rights.
